Spencer J Nickel, RLA
Mr. Nickel holds 30 years of professional experience as a landscape architect. Licensed in the state Colorado,(#LA294), Spencer has successfully run his landscape architecture practice, 5Design, Inc., for the past 20 years. Mr. Nickel's diverse portfolio includes projects ranging from the highly complex, Historic Arkansas Riverwalk Project in Pueblo, Colorado, to the detailed and intimate Radiation Oncology Healing Gardens at Exempla Lutheran Medical Center in Lakewood, Colorado.
For the past twenty years the majority of Mr. Nickel's work has focused on large, complex, commercial and institutional projects primarily centered on higher education, healthcare and K-12 campus environments. Mr. Nickel's work has been featured in the book "Built for Learning", documenting the past decade of landscape and architectural development at the University of Denver in Colorado. Spencer has worked extensively on many of Colorado's front range university and community college campuses. An accomplished illustrator and designer, Mr. Nickel's work is a result of close coordination between clients, engineers, architects, contractors and stakeholders to arrive at solutions sensitive to environment, budget and schedule, resulting in sustainable places of great meaning and function.
